The Basic Broadsword- There are many ways to create a safe boffer weapon but here at FanWar we emphasize safety first and do not allow any weapons that are simply "padded" sticks, as though they may seem like they wouldn't hurt, when you get into the thick of it, you will find you swing harder then you mean to and we like to ensure that even in a sticky situation, no one get's injured. Thus, we have developed serveral reliable designes that work well. Usually the weapons loose reliable safety as they move towards more realistic looks, so if you are looking for a realy safe weapon, you may have to sacrifice some of it's good looks.

The Old Standard- These old weapons served us for many years and are the best suited for games with younger players who may not be able to control their swing force, as they offer a great deal of padding. Simple to make, you only need bamboo staves (1/2 inch diameter), Pipe Insulation (3/4 inch) and Duck Tape (300 mil). These swords are built either with a three chambered design (shown furthest to the left) or with a slightly more challenging but thinner two chambered blade.

Modular PVC Cell Foam Design- A far cry from the old two and three chambered types FanWar weapons, these awesome block foam bladded weapons not only are much more realistic and effective, but they come appart at the hilt for easy storage and versatility, allowing you to put ANY blade on ANY hilt, staff, or handle!!! Incredibly useful for the FanWar enthusiast who is like to play multiple roles in a single event, these weapons still have a tang that runs the length of the hilt for maximum control. Highly recommended.

Mastercraft Modular Block Foam Design- These awesome weapons have only recently been perfected and are still in playtest. They are inredibly light and fast, can be drawn easily and look awesome. If you can master everything else on this page, take a shot at these beauties.
