| Update for the 2012 Season. For the latest info, check out our Facebook Page; http://www.facebook.com/fantasywarplay It looks like we will have a broader and more varied selection of events for the 2012 season. There will be three mini season this year, a Spring Season (January-April), a Summer Season (May-August), and a Fall Season (September-November). Each of these seasons will have bring in a fresh story and characters at the beginning and build to a finale the last month of each season. If the league is a character league, player will play low level character at the beginning of the season and bring high lvl characters in to the game half way through the season. (1) A few new things to look forward to are the new Battle League I will be running in Palo Alto, a massive event with little to know plot but lots of opportunities to try out all sorts of rolls, classes, skills, and just outright battle skill. (2) We have also changed the Cotati League into a Petaluma League which will be meeting at Oak Hill Park in Petaluma. The first Petaluma event is scheduled for January 8th and future dates will be worked out once players voice their preference for a Sunday or Saturday event. (3) Adult League has moved to the third weekend of the month but stays on Sunday. Whether we will remain at Doyle Park will be decided at the Adult League Meeting in December. The Calendar for 2012 is just about current for the Spring Season, so go ahead and take a look. |
We have made a few adjustments to the FanWar calendar this winter and so bare with us as we work out the details. The goal is to make everything easier for people to attend and to eliminate as many conflicting events as possible. We moved Berkeley Events from the third Saturday to the second Saturday because we wanted to consolidate Palo Alto events. This created a conflict with Cotati, which we are now remedying by shifting Cotati to the third Saturday. Thus, all the Cotati Junior League events are not on one weekend, instead of split between two. Additionally, we have added a new Cotati Adult League day, in Crestfall. This allows us to do two days of Adult League on the same weekend (the second weekend of the month). So, in brief the revised schedule looks something like this First Weekend (Palo Alto- Roekron Story) Second Weekend (Adult League Cotati Crestfall/Roekron) AND Berkeley on Saturday Third Weekend (Junior League Cotati- Roekron) AND (Junior League PaloAlto- Teriock) Fourth Weekend (Adult League Newark- Crestfall) Hope that helps. Hello all FanWar Junior Leaguers, I am planning on opening a new venue for FanWar LARP in Berkeley starting in July on the third Saturday of the month (starting July 17th). I plan to move the Palo Alto event that usually happens that day to the 18th so it won't conflict but until I do, the Berkeley event is a tentative go. These Berkeley events will be located in Teriock, a part of my game world that is far away from most of the rest of my quests, and so players will have the opportunity to begin at lower levels without too many high level characters dwarfing them right away (though there are many high level characters in Teriock, only a few will likely be able to make it to this venue). There is the potential for characters from Roekron to make it to this new location, though initially that will not be an option, so players will all be making new characters and playing fresh for a while. This is an excellent opportunity to learn to play the game and for new players to get involved. Please spread the word and invite as many other players who you think would be interested to come to this event. The event may be run by me or Tony my brother who runs most of the Teriock events. The cost will be the same as the Cotati events, as will the times and structure. The event will be structured initially like the Basic/Advanced sets in Cotati, where the morning in Basic and training, and the afternoon characters and leveling up. Later we may expand to a Advanced/Advanced league, but that is already offered for Teriock in Palo Alto and Ukiah, so player may need to travel a bit if they want to get levels faster in the beginning. See you all there! Christopher [Submitted by GameMasterChris] |
| I called Lake Mendocino and asked to make sure they will be open for the camp out in two weeks. They said they didn't know. They will be closing soon to renovate but haven't yet and are trying to stay open as long as possible. He said that it takes them 3 weeks to mobilize for the demolition and they haven't started mobilizing yet, so it should be okay, but I just wanted to give you all a heads up (we might have to relocate that camp out to another local camp ground (I will look around). | Hello FanWar Campers, I know everyone is excited about the Bodega Dunes camp out (I am). I do have to tell you that I canceled the first set of the day on Tuesday, June 15th (the set that was going to be from 10am-1pm). The reason for this is that check in at the park is not officially until 1pm and even though we should have no problem, that set is always a hard one to run while people are still getting settled. Since it is just Basic and we have the whole week of events, dropping it is not a big deal and it will also bring down the cost of that day by $15 for everyone. I hope this doesn't cause to many problems for people who are camping the night before. I do plan to be around to discuss character specifics and details of plot during that morning and so there shouldn't be too much of a loss. Our experience with these long Campout LARPs is that by the thirds day we are all dragging our feet and can barely move anyway, so dropping the first set is probably a good idea for everyone involved. See you all soon! Go to the Event Calendar and click on the Event Details if you want the full schedule of each day. Christopher Melville [Submitted by GameMasterChris] |
| Tuesay, May 18th and May 25th are canceled for Junior Fanwar due to conflicts. Ethan has State science fair and the next Tuesday is conference week for Tree of Life School. Sunday the 23rd is canceled as well- that is the bridging ceremony for TOL. Next Ukiah Fanwar is June 1st. All Fanwar events are now from 4-7 on Tuesdays- no more sundays at 1. It will be way to hot at 1 oclock in the summer and our church going members cant go in the morning on Sundays. Remeber to Eat before fanwar or bring a dinner/snack and a water bottle and dress for the heat. We start after the hottest part of the day. -Tony [Submitted by GameMasterChris] |

| April has a date change. I am out of town on April 18th so I have moved the event that would usually be on that day to the following week, April 25th. I hope this does not inconvienence anyone too much. Christopher [Submitted by GameMasterChris] |
| Cloverdale League has moved to Cotati park for the future, as Ukiah now has it's own Junior League and does not use the Cloverdale location anymore. This should provide more events for Marin, Sonoma, Napa players, as well as the Oakland crew. We are still not sure if both events will still be Basic/Advanced, or if we will be adding more Advanced events, but I will update the events ASAP. Christopher [Submitted by GameMasterChris] |
